A Visitor's Guide to Interesting and Important Places
Castles and Manors
There are three great houses in Three Points.
- The House at Bonnie Ben:
- Cedar Grove Castle:
- Grandview Manor:
- Rockland Dock:
- Green Dragon Tavern: Owned by pub matron Mary Malone, the Green Dragon bustles with a friendly and somewhat flirtatious wait staff. The Green Dragon is known for good food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), a warm atmosphere, and the best mead in the state.
- Ambassador Hotel:
- Ice Palace:
- The Church of the Redeemer: A Lutheran Church in the town of Rockland. While there are no churches in Haverstraw many of the residents come down to Rockland on Sunday to attend services at The Church of the Redeemer.
- Saint Fillan's: A Catholic Church in Bonnie Ben.
- Castle on the Lake: The Castle on the Lake, also known as the Bold Castle or Boldt Castle was built nearly 100 years ago for special community events. Known as the bold or Boldt Castle, it features a grand ballroom, dining hall and accommodations that can house nearly a hundred guests.
- The Playhouse: Also known as Alster Tower, the Playhouse is a stone structure on the island designed for recreation. There are game rooms for billiads, candlepin bowling and other leisurely pursuits available throughout the structure as well as the surrounding grounds, including an enclosed cove perfect for an afternoon row or moonlit swim.
- The Gardens: Also known as the Italian Gardens, the Gardens are a sculpted and manicured garden with a low hedge maze and strolling paths.
- The Gazebo: Located on the east side of the island, the Gazebo boasts one of the best spots to view the moonrise on a summer night.
- The Apiary: Also known as the Singing Tower, the Apiary is a tall stone bee hive located near the gardens, with a meadery below. The bees within the Singing Tower are said to be the source of Haverstraw's exceptional harvests and the mead is the most popular drink in the Green Dragon Tavern in Rockland.
