Guild of Kurothic Clerics
"While there may be much we do not know, we can be certain that the Truth is already written."
Background
For many centuries, the town of Ku Hafu in Minaka Vale was run by guilds, and they still play a large part in the town. In the 15th Century, the guilds of Ku Hafu seized power from Lord Hafu and the Hafu family, who had been happily ruling over the town for as long as anyone could remember. The guilds hold on Ku Hafu lasted until the 21st Century and the so-called 'Spontaneous Handover'.
The Guild of Kurothic Clerics may not be as old as many of those original guilds, but it is part of the same traditions. Its headquarters are situated in the Guild Quarter of Ku Hafu and is respected by the residents of the town.
The guild, along with the rest of Ku Hafu, follows the Baa Yalu religion and the customs which go along with it.
Kurothic Carvings
The Kurothic Carvings are the text that the Baa Yalu religion is based on. Despite the name, they are not in fact carvings, but a collection of manuscripts that document carvings that are said to hold the secrets of the Old World and the truth of the gods. They were recorded over 4,000 years ago by Too To Mo, and it is said that Too copied them from the sides of the Kurothic mountains, thus the name. The location of the mountains has been lost to time, but the lore of them lives on in the flock of Baa Yalu.Culture
Sigil
The sigil of the guild centers around a book and a quill, showing dedication both to the Kurothic Carvings and the written word. The twigs that surround it represent the gnarled twigs of Hoo.Motto
The words the guild live by are "The Truth Is Already Written". These build on the idea that the Kurothic Carvings hold the answers to everything that has been and will ever be, and merely need to be translated.Work
The guild offers a range of services, including small rites in the Baa Yalu tradition, as well as traditional clerical work. These services help to fund the guild along with some additional private backing.Agenda
The Guild seeks nothing less than a complete and accurate translation of the Kurothic Carvings. They believe that certain significant theological truths have been overlooked or misunderstood in mainstream Baa Yalu practice.
While they continue to petition the Abbey for access to the original manuscripts, their requests have been repeatedly denied. This has led some members to advocate for more creative approaches to advancing their scholarship, though Guild Master Saa So maintains that all their activities remain within the bounds of law and propriety.
Whispers suggest the Guild has made fascinating discoveries about the true nature of the relationship between the four deities, particularly regarding passages that seem to give Hoo a more prominent role than traditionally understood. However, without access to the complete manuscripts, their theories remain just that, theories.

The Guild makes its money by offering the following services:- Healing and blessing services

Membership
The Guild welcomes those with a genuine interest in theological scholarship and linguistic study. New members undergo a probationary period of half a year, during which they assist senior clerics with their research and learn the Guild's methodologies.
