The Sinners Den

An open secret, yet hidden away.

Moondoor is a city of importance to the region. It is the shining example, which is supposed to shine the light of The Gods of Order into the hearts of the pagans. It needs to be above reproach and it needs to be held to the highest standard of the Orthodoxy. And yet, there is a stain on the city, an establishment of sin, which the church hates beyond all others.   Nestled into a small side street and hidden from prying eyes, sinners can slip out of the cold streets into the hearth-warmed rooms that were dug under the buildings above.

What can people do there?

The name of the Sin here is gambling, one of the highest sins the Church knows. The citizens of Moondoor historically played dice games in which people try to bluff and call out others on their bluffs. However, with trade with the south new games have been brought and the Sinners have taken a liking to card games of various types.

Why is this such a big deal?

Despite the seemingly mundane nature of the sins commited here, this out of all the heathen ways is the one the church hates the most. Because it introduces chance. To the Church of Order, every dice throw is a renunciation of the gods and every card deck shuffled an invitation for the Thrash to creep back into the city, like vines slowly bringing down a mighty tower.

What is the church doing about the Den?

Despite their best efforts, the Church seems to be unable to remove gambling from Moondoor. Twice The Inquisition has raided the Sinners Den and caught the agents of the Thrash. Every sermon the priests drive home the danger of even the slightest component of chance and the devilish influence gambling can have on man, and yet the Den is soon after rebuilt in a new hiding spot and yet Sinners visit the Den in masses through the night.
