Elves of the Wildlands

As a species they do not have a fixed idea of "masculine" and "feminine" in the way humans understand them, so all names are unisex.

Elves are shapeshifters so they prefer names which have the same fluid idea of gender as their appearance does.

Their family names often come from their place of dwelling and are often flowery or inspired by the natural world.

Among Magic Users it can be either a mark of honour or the family's greatest shame to have an Elven family name.

Communities will often give members honorifics to mark special abilities or deeds which they believe should be remarked on.

They are generally very polite people who will greet anyone they meet.

Any guests who visit, even if it's just a five minute drop in to collect something, they will be given food and drink. They do the same for human visitors which often creates great suspicion as they are commonly mistaken for the Faefolk who will use food to trap guests.

They have often been confused for the Faefolk who will try and trick their guests into staying with hospitality, for the Elves the hospitality is polite and not intended to trick so this confusion can often upset them.

Due to their shapeshifting nature, they prefer for everyone to look different. They will use complex spells and their powers to create their own unique image, they believe that the effort put into this makes everyone beautiful in their own way.

They don't have a formalised idea of gender so each individual is free to express themselves as they feel best fits them.

Generally, they will prefer to stay with the same individual for life although they are free to leave at any time.
