Tellive
Airship engines, laser rifles, arcane carts, personal flight packs, and handheld bombs; all are uses of the magical tellive crystal. Used extensively by the Marentian military and occasionally other arcanists for magical research. A mysterious mineral, found only in Marentis, it is highly valued across the world for its magical properties. Its ability to store and expel magical energy is highly valued by any desiring to fuel their magical experiments, and others who have more nefarious intentons.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Tellive appears as a crystal structure, similar to quartz, that is most often found in a royal blue color.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Tellive is warm to the touch, especially so for the lighter colored crystals. The lighter colored crystals are known to hum gently and seem to vibrate. Handling of lighter colored crystals must be done with extreme caution as they are known to be quite volatile.
Geology & Geography
Tellive was discovered in Marentis territory, but the exact location has been lost to history. Seemingly only found within the empire's borders, they control a monopoly over the crystal, and are not typically keen to export it.
Origin & Source
Tellive mine locations are kept under lock and key, with only those who will be directly working in, or overseeing the mines given knowledge of their locations. No one is quite sure where or how Tellive was discovered, nor who made the discovery.
Life & Expiration
Tellive is prized for its uncanny ability to store magical energy, for extended periods of time. Reseasrch into just how long magic can remain potent while stored in the crystals is ongoing, but evidence so far shows extremely slow degredation of magical strength, if any.
History & Usage
Everyday use
The most common use of tellive is by arcanists as sources of extra magical energy. This can be used to power magical contraptions or as extra power for arcane rituals. The empire of Marentis has found more uses, powering their many magical and technical invetions, such as the arcane carts, energy rifles, or airships.
