CD-GAE War

Military: War

War between the Cypher Dominion and the Grand Artanat Empire which started on 27024 and ended on 27037.

The CD - GAE war was fought across the very long distances of the Fortrais Galaxy Cluster, as both factions are on opposite sides of the cluster. At this point in time, though, both sides have become powerful enough to wage war on the other despite this distance, with relative ease. CD wormhole technology has advanced to the point of being able to stage entire assaults at long range, and GAE Warp Tunnels have an even larger capacity. The Crystal and Irarus galaxies were roughly in the center of most attack routes, making that galaxy in particular a highly valuable strategic point. The Beta and Pi Tianars galaxies were both positioned very close to each other and roughly rimward and extraplanar (roughly the direction of the CD) from GAE territory, also making those galaxies useful to the latter to establish forts in the event that the CD manages to overwhelm GAE forces in Crystal. Sometimes they elected to station forces in extragalactic space especially when particular galaxies were highly defended, leading to either faction to invent ways to more accurately and reliably detect enemy forces in extragalactic space.

Other factions have also began to develop more methods of tracking objects in extragalactic space, including the HF.

Initially, the overwhelming number of the GAE gave them the upper hand in offense, though the more technologically advanced CD were still incredibly powerful. They retaliated and developed more weapons to efficiently counter large numbers of less advanced enemy forces, and the GAE military was forced to get creative. By disguising their ships via cloaking, Subspatial Starship technology, making them resemble asteroids, ect, the GAE managed to continue staging attacks and deal much damage to the CD military. The new front was falling into the GAE's favor, but the GAE could not crack the static defences of the CD very easily because these areas had far more sensor coverage. Progress became slow, before a powerful CD counterattack which has allowed them to regain any lost territories in these galaxies, though the GAE has already killed many CD drones (The GAE did not have the technology to un-hivemind them without killing them anyway). In contrast, the CD has been able to establish a hive mind on captured GAE soldiers. 

The counterattack, though successful because the GAE has at this point lost its momentum and the offensive, advanced far enough that the war ended virtually how it started except with small border adjustments, new technologies, wreckages of destroyed starships (many of which are already being salvaged by CD, GAE, HF and other factions), some people have died and so on. Other factions also had lessons to learn from the war, particularly those that would have paid close attention to it like the HF. They began to invest in ways to distribute enough supplies to sustain a significant force in deep intergalactic space, probably via large dedicated supply ships.
