Zagar
The zagar are a species that ran a minor faction (the Defence Union) which would never make contact with aliens (outside of the Arkanian animals). They looked to exploit and trade with others and tended to be even more obsessed with earning money than most species Despite this, it would be the Arkan animals that would make them unify and establish a hypermilitarist, authoritarian regime. They also made for excellent engineers since inventing the printing press as they became quite fascinated with that technology as well as others that came after it.
Though they have many basic body features which can be compared to that of a human, they do not appear similar to humans. They have 2 arms, legs and a head, but all of these features differ from that of a human. The most easily recognisable parts are the ears which are very large, allowing them to have excellent hearing, as well as their large neck. They also have little skin pigment leading to more grey skin.
Biology
The zagar are not mostly comprised of carbon but of silicon. Due to having less light on their homeworld, they have larger eyes and are often seen wearing goggles which enhance their vision. This allows them to modify their eyesight as well, using special lenses such as IR radiation detection and high precision sight that focuses at a very short range. Although other species could probably do this, the zagar's eyes have evolved to adjust to this easily. Other species eyesight might be damaged if they wear the wrong glasses, goggles or other eyesight adjustment device.
The zagar are essentially a single large amoeba externally. However, each of their internal organs represent several smaller cells, specialised to various roles. For example, their heart is a single cell separate from the rest of the body, and this goes for their other organs as well. To reproduce, they are a genderless species that can extend a large, needle-like appendage. By seemingly and slowly 'stabbing' other zagar with this, the genome of the 'attacker' is inserted into the body of the person being stabbed. In normal circumstances, this is not fatal as the hole will close in just minutes. However, striking a vital organ can be fatal, so they developed bones around these organs as the needles can not penetrate bone. After insertion, the DNA-rich fluid is found by the immune system of the person that was stabbed, and it is sent to the person's womb to begin growing a fetus.
Though they cannot digest bones very effectively, they tend to swallow food whole. They also have no stomach, and their digestive tract runs across most locations of their torso. Food is initially crushed and churned to separate and break it down for more efficient digestion, so they have a very long and large intestine that gets thinner as food reaches the end. Due to the inconvenience of bone, they often remove it from food manually but any swallowed bones are normally separated in digestion and are removed via excretion. If an object they swallow cannot be crushed, their intestine can expand significantly to allow it passage, but this is a long and excruciating process and any regular food can coalesce behind it. As such, the intestines also slow down as large objects pass in order to remain efficient. This might also cause a large 'bulge' to form on the exterior of their body as this large object moves through it, providing a relatively obvious symptom.
Their respiratory tract is entirely separate from their digestive tract. Their mouth and nose cavity are not connected but they have 3 large lungs inside them that are used for speech and to breathe. Their nose has a complex set of muscles that are used for speech.
