Penrose Sphere

A Penrose sphere is a type of megastructure reminiscent of but unrelated to Dyson Spheres. They are built around a black hole of virtually any size and essentially harvest the black hole for energy. This makes only an extremely small effect on the black hole due to its extreme energy density. Most of the interior of a Penrose sphere is lined with mirrors rather than solar panels to trap a large amount of photons inside the megastructure, some of which are harvested by the megastructure. The photons will sometimes move past the black hole, which will cause it to duplicate itself using energy from the black hole. The photon density inside a Penrose sphere is thus normally extremely high.

Virtually all major factions other than the Tranal Nomads have Penrose spheres.
