Outlaw Sonic Cannon
A type of large, powerful sonic cannons as used by the Traxilax species of the Alti Dominion.
The Outlaw is cheap despite its large size, as well as powerful. Although fairly unwieldly, it is affordable enough to be used through the entirety of Alti society - including the military, police and even most civilians. In fact, it is a long standing tradition of the Traxilax to store large weapons on their dinner tables. Over time, the 'staple' weapon of the Dominion can vary, and currently that position is taken by the 'Outlaw'.
As a sonic cannon, they are usable underwater and on land, though more effective in more dense media like water, and works by heavily presurising the atmosphere or water in front of it, causing a very intense transverse wave (very loud sound) to propagate through the chosen medium until it reaches the target, likely obliterating most targets that weigh less than approximately 1 ton. This would produce a lot of recoil which should easily obliterate the wielder as well as the target, and as such it requires a significant back blast to conserve momentum. Despite being subject to such immense forces, the Outlaw is designed to be reliable, and this helps it resist being dragged through many kinds of adverse environments such as thick mud and being covered in sand. It is still easily usable even in these conditions. Its back blast is designed to eject momentum in a wide area behind it, so it should be mostly safe for the traxilax to stand several meters behind, though it might destroy objects behind the weapon operator if they are close. Another key drawback is that the weapon was designed for use with traxilax anatomy, and few other species can operate it. The traxilax, being a large species, can wield larger weapons than other species in addition to this, making its use virtually impossible for other species, which can somewhat limit its use.
The Outlaw will not likely prove effective against large vehicles such as battle tanks and warships, and not have the range to serve an anti air role. It is mostly used for infantry vs infantry fights, where it will likely destroy almost any infantryman regardless of armour, even managing to damage HF power armour.
It is not fully known how the tradition of keeping large guns stored on one's dinner table came about, but it is said that a king from long ago constantly kept a sword near them in case an assassin would threaten them. The general populace might have become scared of this possibility despite having a less significant profile than a nation leader, and this tradition seems to survive to this day, well into the traxilax space age.
(Author Note: It is... deliciously effective against enemy infantry! mwahahaha)
