Krizat

A Zikrat character who died before the ZSC repositories were built.

Krizat is, however, commonly regarded as the 'grandfather' of the repository project. As the individual that conceptualised and began construction of the first ever repository, he unknowingly saved the zikrat species (the Calamity has not happened yet), instead his passion being fueled by wanting eternal life inside these massive megastructures. Krizat had a passion for both neurology and AI design, though was not an experienced construction lead manager. When he died, another manager took his place to continue the project.

Even after construction, the first repository could still only hold a small number of souls despite its immense scale. It was upgraded numerous times, and other repositories were built. Funded by the rich, who also desired eternal life and a giant, hyperintelligent computer. These richer individuals often became the operators, which would later turn out to be the worse fate in the repositories' struggle for survival. As technology advanced, they became able to hold thousands of souls. During the late Calamity, they could hold millions each.

In a way, all the repositories were the progeny of Krizat.

Krizat would first start learning about AI design when he was very young, at the age of 11. He could not believe he could design a machine that thinks on its own and studied about this very passionately. At the age of 28, he took his lessons to neurology to try and advance that field of science. Though he was not sucessful here, he developed a passion in this area too. Krizat did not know that this information would end up saving the zikrat species. Although he is extremly knowledgable within his passions, he has a fairly short attention span outside of them which can make it difficult to acquire new ones. This is a key reason why he studied these passions so deeply.

He would normally wear multiple layers of thick clothing to preserve heat. This would make his body look larger than it actually was as well but slow him down in the water. Krizat did not seem to have any real colour preference so the clothing would be a different colour after almost every day. Some of his friends at the time would sometimes try to guess which colour they would be on the next day. He would also often try to wear some sort of swimming aid to help counteract this weight, making him appear even larger and sealing almost his entire body inside the clothing. As an aquatic species, the zikrat have fins which would be difficult to wear clothes over, so their clothes usually has a large, zipper-like mechanism going down the length of a clothing item. This way, it is possible to fit them over the fins before tightening.
