Ichnarna

Ichnarna is an ice planet of the Vleno System.

Though it receives less sunlight than the other planets despite having the same orbital radius, it still has a thriving biosphere in its geothermal vents which many organisms feed on for energy. There are also organisms on the surface which take in energy from the sun. This is what gives the local populations a way to reach space - but this biosphere grows quite slowly. However, few creatures have evolved to live in the mantle or other extreme depths. Because water freezes in these temperatures, they cant use water in their biology, instead relying on ammonia as a biochemical solvent. This makes Ichnarnan life largely incompatible with the other planets. This can make assaults from Olrate particularly easy to defend from.

The Ichnarnan oceans are primarily comprised of this liquid ammonia where it is distributed around the planet via evaporation and condensation. It cycles around the planet in a similar manner as water of Earthlike planets. Though there are few oceans of ammonia, there is enough ammonia present to sustain life, even underground where it seeps through the rock but does not evaporate easily. Most of the planet is land.

The surface has a large number of space launch facilities. The largest of these is present on one of the large continents about 60 km from the nearest ocean. Of course, the term 'continent' is used loosely here as the majority of the planets landmass is connected due to the planet being mostly land. This launch facility is very large and still sometimes used by the Harkas to hide from predators or deploy purposed organisms into space. This is one of the few space launch facilities remaining in service and it has very thick armour (it is continually upgraded to have ever thicker armour so that predators cant penetrate it). The facility must obtain all the supplies it needs through purposed organisms and a large amount of food. As such, there is also a large hunting ground near the facility and it is equipped with massive, long range harpoon launchers, designed to kill and bring any would-be predators of the harkas to sustain the launch facility.

The planets equator has the deepest, most complex ecosystem due to slightly more solar radiation. These parts of the world are, or were, highly sought after. Now that the harkas civilization has more or less collapsed, no one area is more valuable than another, other than ease of survival.
