First Eptha - Human War

First war that happened between Eptha and Humans. This happened on continental Glotall.   As humanity was obsessed with expansion and their own civilization, they constantly destroyed nature. Chopping down trees to build houses, farming animals and crops, releasing smoke into the atmosophere from fires. The Eptha warned them multiple times that they would attack if pollution got too great. The humans thought that they would be easy to hold off because they are small and weak. They did not understand that their small size would make them hard to hit with anything that is not magic. Furthermore, the Eptha species are highly attuned to magic, granting them a powerful ability.  While humans did manage to kill a lot of Eptha, the they were fearless despite their almost childish appearance. They were brutal, leaving few survivors from the burning settlements. Although humanity on Mauray was shattered, they were not wiped out. Both sides signed a ceasefire, ending the war. Human culture was changed forever by the event. They could no longer expand as fast as they did before and would make sure not to anger the Eptha again. They were allowed to build, but they were restricted. Stone was used more than wood.

The Conflict

Battlefield

Glotall is a continent of mostly forest. There are several large areas of huge trees and, occasionally, mushroom forests.  The conditions of the battlefield provide a lot of cover, especially visual cover, from all sides.

The Engagement

Eptha just fought using magic. Humanity used magic as well, but could never do it as well as Eptha can.  They also used large nets to capture Eptha and then kill them. Doing this in the middle of a battle was difficult however, so they invented a new form of crossbow bolts that split into a large net mid-flight. this saw far more sucess but came too late in the war to turn the tide.
