Elf

Elves are short, highly magical sentient species native to Mauray.   Though elves see themselves as a key defender of nature, they must still eat. Elves usually hunter-gather food, making sure not to damage any ecosystem significantly and also planting more seeds for plants as they consume food from plants. Like most Maurayan species, elves were engineered and so they have a much more efficient biology than most species. They can survive off very little food and store a large amount of energy as fat or mana. Elves have a symbiotic plant-like organism that grows inside them. The plant is very hard to distinguish from the elf internally as it forms part of the elf's circulatory and digestive systems. They would not survive without the plant. It also helps the elf to obtain energy through photosynthesis which helps to further reduce their food intake. In an elf, the line between the stomach and intestine is blurred. The initial sections of its digestive system breaks food apart while slowly moving it forward through the organ. As it continues, the organ gets thinner before eventually exhibiting mostly intestine-like properties. The symbiotic plant also aids in digestion and recovers nutrients from the elf's circulatory system for nutrients and energy. The plant also filters out poisonous compounds from the digestive system and releases it as a sap-like material. This plant replaces the liver present in most species. Elf biology also relies on magic to an extent, they have no heart. Instead, they have a magic organ that uses miniature Larjarak Crystals to pump blood through their veins.
