CDE Mining

Large, powerful mining corporation of the Republic of Miasi. 

CDE mining owns and operates a large number of mines around the Arcturus galaxy, mainly within miasan territory. They have also been known to establish mines on questionable locations such as within unclaimed space and areas that other factions might want to claim. This highly risky method of extraction has earned them a lot of materials but can damage Miasan relations with other factions and nations which can get them into legal trouble.

CDE extracts virtually all kinds of materials, as long as they come from underground. Geodes, common metals, crystals, magnetic monopoles and so on. They have branched out in to a large number of different markets because of this.

The company started out as a small independent mine on Eranath, the human homeworld under the Republic. Their mine was placed on a particularly rich location, so they were able to expand. This expansion has earned them a lot of profits so they were able to establish mines all over the world by the time the humans were getting good at space travel. At this time, they looked to establish other mines off world, because these veins have been relatively untouched for millions of years. The extreme cost of these endeavors were obvious, as it was very expensive to ship ore to and from space constantly. It has been found that mining ore on asteroids was much cheaper because that way the ore is already in orbit, but the yields per vein were relatively small. CDE also mines on asteroids quite a lot too. The lack of space elevators also increased costs of shipment significantly, so the company eventually hired others to build such megastructures on some of CDE's more lucrative planets.

The company has several large bases. Their main HQ is placed on a massive, dedicated space station which orbits the Jenat System in a radius fairly close to that of Eranath. This is where most of the company management is held as well as storing a large amount of company assets. As this station is quite valuable to the Republic, the military has established a number of defence platforms around it and even operate some defensive weapons on the station itself. There are also several other bases on several planets through Miasan territory, designed to extract a large amount of material. The largest locations are:
- Site TU-42, a mine on a lava planet. This mine spans for approximately 20-30 kilometers in every direction, making it one of the largest mines of the Republic. TU-42 extracts huge quantities of ores from the lava and the ground itself. Several tons of ore are extracted from the mine every hour. Though its yields are great, the site needs frequent repairs and is quite dangerous because of the very hot conditions.
- Site Endurance, a huge mine established on a barren planet near the outskirts of Miasan territory. To avoid a large mountain range which has few resources, the site takes up a strange shape and resembles a large C. However, it was designed from the start to be a huge site and as such it runs quite efficiently. Though the yield of site TU-42 is greater, Site Endurance is built on much better and safer ground, so fewer accidents happen.
- Site GR-4X, which is the largest magnetic monopole mine of the Miasan republic. GR-4X was built on a very lifeless, barren planet which was bombarded with very intense radiation as the parent star went supernova. These magnetic monopoles are an extremely rare material, and they are normally shipped off to various scientific clients. Magnetic monopoles also have uses in technologies like railguns and very advanced components relying on complex magnetic interactions. Site GR-4X itself mostly resembles a straight line. It is very dark without lights because of the black hole, so for added safety the employees are housed on site and the entire site is lit.

The company has decent relations with its employees. When it was founded, their employees were treated excellently and they were paid quite well. Now that CDE management has changed so much, they are no longer paid better than those of other mining companies and they have decent working conditions. CDE is mandated by Miasan law to provide safe working conditions as well as a minimum pay rate to its employees, so the conditions remain better than that. There have been no cases of large scale rebellions, unlike several companies of the Alti Dominion.  

They will export a large amount of materials to various metal fabrication companies which will produce metals of varying quality and supply them around the republic.
