Refar

Refar is a captain of a Harkas bioship. As a spaceborne Midworldian, they have never and will likely never visit a planet, spending all their time in space. Refar has been interested in bioships since they were very young, and now they are quite old and very experienced in combat. They can interface with other creatures very easily and even with little thought, allowing them to think and plan even while interfacing with their bioship which is a rare skill. This makes Refar a valuable individual to the Hyperion Sentinel Defence Force HSDF military, particularly when tasked with using faster bioships.

Refar is quite large for a midworldian. Their body is about 11 m long from head to tail and they have a radiator wingspan larger than that. They have a green skin colour, which contrasts significantly with the red colour of their radiator which constantly emits heat. They do not maneuver very fast through space, but their size would make infantry-fired bullet wounds smaller in comparison with the size of their body and they are more skilled in 0g combat than the majority of enemy soldiers. As a spaceborne creature, their body is also much better suited to it. Like virtually all hyperionites, Refar is cybernetically enhanced which has improved their reflexes significantly which further improves their personal combat capability. They have only fought a small number of non-simulated personal space battles in their service, and has 9 kills like this. Refar has been hit a small number of times, twice in their main body, three times in their radiators and once in their tail. Most of these incidents happened on separate occasions and they survived quite easily each time, partly because the cybernetic enhancements allowed them to heal each injury very well. Some of these bullets are still wedged inside their body, as Refar decided to keep them inside as they are now harmless and they could remind them of this event.

Refar, though normally fairly impatient, is known to use hard logic and facts to select engagements they can win. Refar prefers not to engage an enemy they know little about, but they have performed a scouting role in their career which largely allows them to engage anyway. Despite this, their impatience has caused them to attempt attacks too quickly which has led to several near death incidents. When bioships suffer pain, such as when they are shot, the pain can reach the harki controlling them, and Refar has felt a lot of pain because of this in their time. They are slowly becoming more patient and willing to remain more careful when there are too many enemy forces, but others think it is only a matter of time before they eventually get themselves killed.
