The Battle of the 8 Heroes

Cultural event

The battle between the eight heroes of what would later be known as the Forgelands, where eight unrelated people used Essence to battle the Terror of the Firelands, a Colossus that roamed the land. The Terror destroyed the lands on an almost weekly basis, but this night eight people killed it. This caused a change in the political landscape of the Firelands and the eventual creation of the 8 Clans of V'Rok Risten.

The Event:

The Heroes:

• Toron Saxum, a renowned sword maker and weapon maker, saw Lapis begin the fight. With hardened enhanced steel he tried to deliver what blows he could until he realized essence was the only way even to begin to deal damage.
• Lucana “Lu” Exford bound shields with essence abilities and infused her armor with essence-laced materials for additional abilities. Some say she could even deflect a full blast from the colossus and hit it with her blast.
• Phinea Mactos understood that the properties of the ethereal and the Essence extended beyond the physical world and even the metaphysical. Known in the community for being bookish and inquisitive, none expected Phinea to be one of the 8 heroes. While her combat skills were questionable her tactics were not. Said by some to have eyed a weak spot in the metal of the colossus that allowed for Toron Saxum to strike a limb clean off the Colossus (thus beginning the alliance of the sword and mind). She died trying to protect Toron.
• Fydar Igneous was fascinated with the properties of materials naturally found in the Forgelands. He made his tools, weapons, and armor out of specific metals and stones because he found the properties more versatile.
• Lapis Cadel’rok began the fight with Colossus. Recognizing the need of her fellow countrymen, and drew the bow first.
• Myonmine “Myon” Candora built his weapons to be remarkable. He dove into Essence deposits and crafted legendary weapons with an insane connection to the Essence. Capable of wielding incredible power, these weapons were made to withstand Colossus and did so when he used them, but they also killed him.
• Idrissa Wildore, a skilled arcane wielder, frequently berated for using such a brash and uncontrollable force to mine and complete tasks, used her skill to kill the colossus ultimately.
• Lanthron Fondren was a hero of the War of the Western Pass. Fighting for the tradition the Forgelands has. He was the first to use the essence as a weapon in the war, which assisted in swiftly ending the conflict and giving the Forgelands that extra bit of land and a more strategic border.
