Sahuagin
In the seas of Theros, Sahuagin are cruel hunters born from the mingling of mortal blood and Mogis’s rage. These scaled marauders dwell in coral warrens and the flooded ruins of sunken temples, thriving in the dark waters around the Dakra Isles. They see themselves as Mogis’s chosen children, embodying his creed of slaughter and conquest. To them, the surface world is a larder and the sea a battlefield.
Sahuagin hunt in frenzied packs, their attacks as much ritual as necessity. They raid ships not only for food and plunder, but to offer the drowned as sacrifices, binding their victims’ spirits to Mogis in twisted devotion. Their shamans daub themselves in blood before battle, while their warriors decorate their jagged tridents with teeth and bones.
Among sailors, they are dreaded as the Bloodtide Spawn, monsters who rise with crimson sunsets and vanish again beneath the waves, leaving only corpses and wreckage behind.
