Terror Beast
Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Terror Beasts are a diverse group of bird-like animals of widely varying size and appearance. Though they were the dominant terrestrial species in ancient times, over the years their populations dwindled, and now they can only be seen in Bayjan.
Terror beasts are divided into several major groups, with certain features distinguishing between them:
- Fused-Joint Beasts, armored herbivorous quadrupeds.
- Plate-Covered Beasts, plated herbivorous quadrupeds.
- Horn-Faced Beasts, either bipedal or quadrupedal herbivores with reptilian-like neck frills and eponymous horns.
- Thick-Skulled Beasts, bipedal herbivores with thick skulls; note that the term "thick skull" is used in the literal sense.
- Raptor Beasts, bipedal or quadrupedal carnivores.
- Dread Beasts, mostly bipedal carnivores.
- False Dragons, mostly large herbivorous quadrupeds with long necks and tails. Comprised of the largest terror beasts, some species in this group can reach almost 40 meters (130 feet) from head to tail and weigh up to 65 tons.
