Ssin’rath

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Ssin’rath, is the terrible rite of the Drider's Curse and it is a doctrine of twisting of what was once fair, into a mockery of itself; The Elves hold and rightfully so, that the Dark Seldarine do not create life, but rather corrupt what already is;

The Ritual

The Clergy of Lolth, high initiates are tested through the Rite of the Fang and Web. Those who falter, those who displease, or those chosen as examples of terror, are seized and their forms are not slain, but borken and remade: their upper halves remain elven, their lower halves warped into the chitinous body of a monstrous spider.   The Ssin’rath ritual is not merely a punishment, but a devotional act as to deform is to glorify lolth herself. The ruined elf is proof that no bond of kinship, beauty or dignity outweighs the will of Lolth. The Whole Dark Seldarine, the existence of the drider is a liturgy of spite: Every one a desecration of Corellon's blood. Only Eilistraee, refuses to take part in this defilement.
