Rite of Excommunication
Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
The Rite of Excommunication of Heimdall happens when a disciple fails a charge, shows cowardice, or breaches Heimdall’s precepts, the senior available disciple pronounces exile in these terms:
You were judged by rightful authority and found wanting. You betrayed the trust placed in you. When vigilance was required, you were blind; when firmness was needed, you bowed. When the weak, children, the wounded, the helpless, needed shelter, you offered them as sacrifice. You fled in shameful cowardice, fought for vanity or ignorance, and your blade lay dull when destiny demanded it. The blood spilled is on your hands. Your name was called and you did not answer. You are neither pure nor loyal; you are no guardian. To the children of Heimdall you are dead. Go now, and be dead to all others.
