Mivrakim

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Mivrakim or Mivrak is a technology for a bedrock messenger that uses pairted, tune-matched stones to carrfy brief coded phrases through rocks at dawn and dusk. This is done using Muradinite threads. In essence, it holds a pitch and carries micro-vibrations through its grain which can be 'retuned' by peening or annealing.   The Mivrakim are essentially a chain of staffed network, often called Stoneposts which is established by dwarves, throughout their kingdom of Khazad-Ram or their allies, or someplace they deem it necessary. The Dwarves there, patch, relay and verify the message, while using stone, schedule and skill.

Utility

Each master' station' has the following:
  • Stonepost Hub: Granite plinth keyed to local bedrock, crowned by a muradinite Resonance Collar and Quiet Ring (band-stop insert to kill crosstalk within).
  • Tap Desk: Hand hammer on sprung anvil, dampers for pace control, and a listener horn coupled to the stone via a resin cup.
  • Master Bar: A reference muradinite alloy, often with for pitch checks, which is reffered to as the station’s tuning fork of truth.
  • Relay Houses: Every 18.641–31.069 miles, there are two rooms: Keying & Listening, separated to reduce noise.
  • Patch Shelf: Nine slots for Grain-Key tokens. Slotting a token opens that route with a max nine links per hub.
  • Ground Shoes: Studded plates beneath the plinth to couple into awkward soils and boost clarity.
Theoritically, each station has a range per hop: 25.854–145.841 miles (which is dependent upon the terrain or strata).   It should be emphasized that there are no continuous muradinite rails as were done in the previous centuries and every hop is discrete.

Social Impact

The Mivrakim, or Mivrak had a great effect within the society of the Dwhewn-Betag, which often communicates with their kin along their kingdom of Khazad-Ram and also... abroad.
