Mind flayers, also called illithids and sometimes known as ghaik by the githyanki, are cruel aberrations that evoke fear among sentient beings across various worlds. This fear stems from their formidable psionic capabilities. These alien creatures, dwelling in their warped lairs deep within the Underdark, harbor an insatiable desire to extend their dominion over all other lifeforms, manipulating their minds to transform them into compliant thralls. In a gruesome act, they consume the very essence of their victims, extracting and devouring their brains while they remain alive.
