Lebarakako

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Lebarakako is a black dog from the Paquecian States which is considered to be an ill omen, usually of an impending disaster. Descriptions vary slightly between sightings, but all agree that it is a calf-sized dog with coarse black fur, that stares from a safe distance and generally avoids contact.

Appearance, Sightings, and Variation

First documented sightings of Lebarakako date as far back as the times of the Demesne of Asybinsera, where it is referred to in passing as a well known phenomenon that predates the demesne by centuries, placing its first appearances to be between 10,900 and 10,400 BB.
Slight variations in its appearance began after the demesne's fall, and became increasingly significant as the Paquecian states started forming.   In Droiasab it is called Barekbarek and it lacks eyes or mouth, almost like a silhouette. It stands on rooftops before fires or structural failures, and its appearances are taken into consideration in old urban planning documents.   In Canabri it has a harsh, coarse howl and it limps behind cursed individuals and victims of unresolved supernatural afflictions, stalking them for days. If it limps on two legs, the victim's condition will get dangerously worse.   In Mainan and Maonakar, seeing Lebarakako is guaranteed death within the coming month. Denizens of these states are known to leave dead dogs in crossroads in order to appease Lebarakako or stave off its gaze, though the success of such rituals is unclear.
