Knight-Killer

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
A Knight-Killer is a type of warhammer designed in order to pierce and buckle plate armor in such a way that prevents the wearer from removing it, making their injuries significantly harder to treat. Knight-killers are commonplace both in Epeoris and Rakion, though they were first used in Lake Kadia and in Araso-Lond.

Purpose and History

Knight-Killers were invented by peasants and commoners in order to kill Knights, as the name implies; plate armor makes a knight all but invulnerable to weapon attacks by revolting commoners, as it is impossible to pierce or slash through with simple weapons, and too thick to be bent by simple hammers.   The knight-killer turns this advantage into a deathtrap. Its pointed pick-like edge punches right through plate, embedding the sharpened rim into the knight's flesh; while its blunt, corrugated edge is designed to deform sheet metal upon impact with a variety of dents.

Social Impact

The widespread usage of knight-killers and their effectiveness during the Third Peasant Revolts of Arasil, evidently, changed the Oath of Edrahil, allowing all citizens of the Kingdom of Arasil to join the Order of the Silver Crown since the 6th century AB.
