Fuirclaak

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
A Fuirclaak is a traditional garment worn by judges, or their equivalents, in societies that worship the Ursevnis Pantheon.

Significance

The fuirclaak is one of the symbols of Themis, the goddess of justice in the Ursevnis Pantheon. It symbolizes the purity of justice, how it should be pristine and unblemished; like how the smallest piece of dirt sticks to the fuirclaak and stands out against the white, so does the most miniscule act of injustice or misjudgment stains the record of a judge. Judges are taught from early training that to don the fuirclaak is to carry the burden of visible accountability.   A fuirclaak is a symbol of office of judges in most Ursevnin societies. In The Kingdom of Aluda'ar, the Judge is the only person who is allowed to wear a fuirclaak, and touching or wearing it is a criminal offense for every other person.   Fuirclaaks are often kept rolled inside a specially made waterproof fabric to prevent staining and damage, or more rarely, put on display inside a glass case. When used, the garment is treated with reverence; donning the fuirclaak is done in a sanctified chamber, or in a specially designated area.   It is worth noting that not all Ursevnin societies hold fuirclaaks in such reverence, as in most of them it is merely a symbol of office; counterfeiting a fuirclaak with bleached fur might not even carry any legal implications. However, deliberately damaging or defacing a fuirclaak is still taboo among all Ursevnin, and doing so might lead to violent altercations or state-sanctioned actions.
