Entomber

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Entombers are a kind of corporeal undead deliberately reanimated by necromancers with two specific purposes - acquiring corpses and disposing of bodies. Creating entombers requires the necromancer to have a good understanding of alchemy, or at least a proficient alchemist willing to work with them on the process.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Entombers are humanoid in shape and to the untrained eye might seem like zombies. There are two telltale differences - a glint of intelligence in their eyes, and a mouth sewn shut. Though not as indicative, they are filthy, even when compared to other undead; streaked with dirt and sometimes bits of desiccated flesh (on top of their own), they also sometimes covered in jewelry and other small bits taken from the bodies they exhume or entomb. They stink of both carrion and embalming alchemical fluids.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The existence of entombers hinges on their usefulness for their masters. Though they can easily serve as mundane bruisers, entombers are created for their unique abilities:
  • When an entomber touches a grave, gravestone, coffin, sarcophagus, or any space where a creature is buried no deeper than 10 feet, the body immediately rises to the surface, leaving no hole or tunnel. A body is not harmed when brought to the surface in this manner.
  • When an entomber slams a creature touching on not-too-hard ground, it may pound the creature into a shallow grave, virtually performing the reverse of the former ability, though the upthrust bulge of cracked flooring material, earth, or stone reveals the location of the victim. This shallow grave is confined to fit the victim perfectly, which prevents movement and causes asphyxiation.
