Eighth House Rebellion

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
The Eighth House Rebellion was a period of political instability within the Principality of Sabersycha, where a noble house rallied support for its claim as an eighth great house and rulership over the Adhmadoíte forest and Inis Aber. Historians of Grausur often point to the rebellion as the best exemplification of the principality's inner politics.

The Conflict

Prelude

The head of the eighth house successfully and secretly petitioned the heads of House Fuaráin and House Colcamin to support his cause; as the prince at the time was Fuaráin, he had nothing to lose from this political maneuver. In early 608 AB, the prince decreed the establishment of an eighth house, eliciting an immediate rebuke from the lord Eburio, which summoned all other houses to Miela in the same day in order to address the decree. After three days, the lord Eburio concluded that a vote is to be held in order to depose the prince; much to the surprise of all, the Bráthair Tiarna of house Colcamin voted against the deposal, making the houses one vote short to depose the prince.
After a month of further negotiations and discussions, none of the sides agreed to compromise.

I am the prince! I lord over you as much as you lord over your vassals. I have decreed such, and so shall it be.
What does your refusal mean?
And I am the Lord Eburio! It is my duty to preserve our traditions, which you seek to break, by all means.
My refusal means war.

Deployment

Though the supporters were outnumbered, house Colcamin and house Fuaráin are two of the three houses tasked with holding the military forces of the principality (the third being house Stríbheatha). This unfortunately meant that both sides were on nearly equal footing, and the rebellion turned into a prolonged low-intensity civil war.
