Hunna

Truly and without equal the most unique species on Thera are the Hunna. Who have not been seen for some time, but if you do happen to spot one you'll definitely know it. With hair growing from the bottom of their backs in a straight line all the way up to their head. They've very round and big white eyes. With a facial structure similar to us elves but with puffier cheeks.

Born with a design into their skin that grows with age. Sometimes elders would be hunted so their skin would be hung like decoration. Their skin tones are either dark blue or bronze, rarely grey or gold. They most likely hide the ones born with the last skin tones because they are worth more. Their abdomens are always white and they are very muscular from the waist down.

They were very shy and preferred to stay alone, unless they had a drink or two. Then it became a biological mandate to educate anyone in proximity about their thoughts. Things were a lot less boring when they were still in the Circle. Their raucous underground caverns always had amazing views for a cave. They're just drawn to things that have hidden depths to them.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Thanks to the dangers of living in deep caverns, the Hunna experienced new threats now and again that would crawl from some unknown section of the caves. They developed two ways to combat these threats. The first was a magical technique that created a clone for yourself that lasted for at least a minute. This was created to help if they were ever outnumbered or needed a distraction to get away from a dangerous situation. The next was their martial/magical art known as Chyilr dil Tsaig, which translates to defend with bottom. It's a martial art that only uses the foot thanks to a predator species that they call leather neck. This animal paralyzes your upper half and then drags you away, which is why the Hunna learned how to fight completely with their feet. They even taught themselves how to cast magic using the martial art, so they'll use it either way.

The Hunna have a strange relationship with fear, and that the dark and sometimes ominous surrounding even their own people get a little to freaked out. Which leads to a community exodus to the surface to spend a few weeks with the plains Hunna. This has become a holiday for for the Hunna, who visit the plains every year at a certain date. But the reason this fear came about was because of one of their own turning against them. One that all of the Hunna feared, Tilg Ainudil.

History

The Hunna were natives of the circle specifically in Serferine, alongside the elves, orsai and later the hog warriors. They lived in the grasslands and the cave systems around in the area and did so peacefully. The grassland tribes lived simply but below they built sprawling cities that all still haven't yet been discovered. When the Snakes took over the Circle they killed almost all of the plains Hunna, but didn't discover the cave Hunna for years. But after the war for the circle reached its end, they were then hunted by humans for sport; Who hung their flayed skins as decoration and carpet, sometimes even fashion. They fled continuously until they landed in Adentai where they still live today.

Common Myths and Legends

The story of Tilg Ainudil. Which is now told often as bedtime stories to scare children, but none really know how it started or of the fear that truly gripped their people. Legend goes that one of the Hunna got lost traversing the caves, and was contacted or found something in the darkness, or maybe even started following a malevolent god, no one can say for sure. All they know that is once he finally returned, he was no longer one of the people, and they named him Tilg Ainudil, Our Shadow. Ainudil expanded his power and not only could control some of the monsters from the deep, but also could keep a permanent spirit clone of whoever he killed.

Ainudil had amazing strength and fortitude, shrugging off blows that would cripple anyone else. He also now commanded some power over death, as he had been killed publicly at least 5 times. But in time he would show up again, doing the same thing over and over. Stalking people without being noticed and killing them, building his spirit army once again. He would always appear with a mist, and the faint sound of loose jangling bones before he attacked.

The strange monsters that they dealt with aren't seen anywhere else in Thera. So a lot of the Hunna chalked them up to being native species of the Serferine cave systems, and some even said they were evil spirits. But there is a very old tale, back to when the Hunna where barely exploring the caves of some lost massive underground cavern, somewhere deep and incredibly ancient, large to the point where it feels as if they went back topside. In this huge cavern were enormously large dead things, and out from these dead things these foul monstrosities would grow and slowly take shape. Less like birth and more like rot or mold. Like a fungus these things crawled out of the death fumes of these gargantuan beings and when they noticed the Hunna, they just screamed. Reverberating guttural white noise that disoriented those around it. The ancient Hunna are said to have ran for what felt like days and blocked the passage as best they could, but every once in a while they'd hear shrill screams echo into their halls.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The Hunna and Demurians actually get along quite well, and can fluently speak each others language. For example Tilg Ainudil and Chyilr dil Tsaig aren't in the Hunnir language, it's the Demu language, Trochy. The Hunna themselves preferred the Demu versions of those words so they just use it. Tilg Ainudil in Hunnir is actually Pra Puweg, and Chyilr dil Tsaig is actually Pukwema e Kwapar.
