Pyalean Fox

The pyalean fox, sometimes known as the trickster fox, is sub-species of the common red fox that has evolved in Pyalea. Though physically incredibly similar, they have developed different behaviours and abilities that are distinct from their relatives.

Pyalean foxes show an exceptionally high level of intelligence and understanding of humanoid behaviour. This has allowed them to interact with humanoids and communities in manners that are rarely displayed in animals. It is because of this that they have earned their name of "trickster fox", owing to their tendency to use misdirection or deception to coax or steal food from people, campsites, and settlements.

Some cultures within the Southern Wildlands have formed significant relationships with pyalean foxes, both individually and culturally. There are accounts of pyalean foxes uses their guile and cunning to protect people, provide gifts or bounties to communities, and even some claims of performing miracles.
