The Elvhenar
According to Lath Viran Lore, when the Divine Wind disturbed a dewdrop upon the leaves of one of the Systers, it fell to the earth below, planting a seed that eventually grew into the elf now known as The First. He knew his name to be Fethriel, and as more of his kin sprouted from the earth, they too inherently knew their names. These six would use the abundant magic of the living lands and the divine winds, in addition to their own souls, to create all elves that would follow. A people who were timeless, ageless, grace incarnate, the Elvhenan. The place of their birth became known as Sel Ath Teladar, and the city they built was named Ilian Theylas, the first city on the face of Thelekar.
Eventually, though, the Divine Wind would lead to the creation of other species, beginning with humankind. The Elvhenar teach that it was the emergence of humanity and the other elder races that led to the Diminishing, the loss of immortality for all elvenkind. Wrinkles formed on porcelain faces, blonde and black hair faded to grey and white, and the oldest amongst them even began to grow beards. All but the original six elves were suddenly aging like mortals, and beings with thousands of years of knowledge died for the first time.
Though this caused the elven people to fracture into multiple different cultural groups within their homeland, they all remained faithful to their ancestors, the Elvhenar, literal living gods who were publicly known and directly worshiped by their followers. Such a life, however, seemed distasteful to Fethriel, who would eventually be cast out by his siblings and branded a traitor during the Sundering. They renamed him Fethris, elven for “Great Sorrow”, and tore down statues and monuments made in his honor. Despite this, they have not removed him from their temples, instead using him as a symbol of what an elf should strive to overcome, an example of what not to do.
