Iron Dwarves

Legendary Stubbornness

Hugging the northern coast of Ardina is a chain of mountains connected by unfathomably tall stone walls bristling with ballista and cannons, large watchtowers and swinging blades. This is Ornzar Gottoth, The Iron Wall, the largest city in the world. It stretches for nearly 45 miles along the northeastern tip of Ardina, and houses more dwarves than the rest of the dwarven chapters combined. The populace wears heavy furs and metal rivets even while eating at home or shopping in the market, never without at least basic protective armor. To live in Ornzar Gottoth, to be an Iron Dwarf, is to choose a life of battle and glory every single day.   The Iron Wall sits in a massively important location for the wellbeing of Thelekar. Just north of them lies the Boiling Pit, a spawning ground for monstrous abominations and leviathans that eventually make their way south to raze the continent. To the north east, Aridace is clouded by an eternal fog, hiding the movements of the draconic swarms. Though the strongest of the dragons could fly from Aridace to Ardina with little issue, the millions of half dragons and dragonspawn they need to conquer the world have to sail. South of The Iron Wall is considered territory of Ille Alathar, and is openly hostile to any draconic ships sailing the Berstone Sea. To the west lies the primary port and training ground for the World Garden Empire, and it cannot be provoked unless the draconic forces want a war on two fronts. As a result, The Iron Wall is the only is the only feasibly conquerable port on the continent, and is regularly raided by draconic generals hoping to test the dwarvish defenses.   Iron Dwarves are not named simply for their city, however. Like blades forged in the hottest fires, they have proven themselves again and again against great armies and massive beasts. Not a single dwarf living in the city has avoided the combat, as everyone rushes to man the walls when the horns are sounded. You're likelier to get an imperial to give you a discount than to get an Iron Dwarf to move out of your way.

Prepared for Battle

While most dwarves will wear their hair in long braids, or simply keep it long and loose, the Iron Dwarves learned long ago that long hair is a weakness that can be exploited in battle. Most will cut their hair short, if not shave it entirely from their heads. In place of the typical ornamentation that long hair affords dwarves, they instead pay great sums for intricate, masterful head tattoos that depict their clans and feats in battle. Some of the most storied generals of Ornzar Gottoth have had to continue their inked legends down their faces and necks, as they've fought battles for centuries. Scarring is not only expected, but celebrated, as each scar tells of a battle won. Many will even have tattoos done specifically to accentuate their scars, to tell the story of the battle in which they received it. A majority of the Iron Dwarves have dark skin as a result of their close proximity and relationship with Karadia, but many dwarves from the other chapters have travelled to The Iron Wall after hearing the call to arms, ready to embrace the culture and charge into battle alongside their cousins.
