Honrich
Honrich is the capital of Tysha, housing the High Table within Castle Ledeford, the city's fortress. Though it is the largest city within Tysha and is by far the richest, very few citizens within its walls would choose to live here if given a choice. For decades, nepotism and corruption have riddled the city streets of Honrich, milking the work force for every copper they have left, and leaving them with just enough to survive until the next day. While House Guissac lends money freely, it sinks its teeth into the poor with lifetimes of debt that they can never hope to pay off, forced to work until they die of old age- or until they're worked to death. Despite their ties to the Church of Hope, House Viret turns a blind eye to them, instead focusing their efforts on ridding the city of "magicians." While this does sometimes include arcane casters, it usually just means unlucky alchemists, Rushal who are stubborn enough to stay in the city, or the average citizen who happens to piss off enough people. Rather than directing the mob towards the Guissac debt collectors or Durnovo crime lords, they instead use it to maintain the Church of Hope's superstitions.
Of course, this awful standard of living only applies to the poor districts of town: Westroad, Sunset Gate, Marina de Rue, and Valerian Road. Once you enter the areas districts directly controlled by House Viret or House Guissac, the standard of living jumps miles high. Manicured roads are patrolled regularly by helpful guards, small public parks and gardens dot the meticulously planned streets, market squares meant to look like the lively markets in the Marina except without the vendors pulling daggers on each other to fight for prime spots; all the money that could go to helping the poorer parts of town instead is hoarded here, to build the idealized version of what Honrich could be. Areas like the Viret Hold, Chemin Centre, South Gate, and Adran's Square represent the highest reaches of Véritian culture, and when compared to areas like Westroad or Marina de Rue, it shows why the Rushal care so much about differentiating themselves from their cousins.
