Fort Calbridge

Fort Calbridge is the last Old Dratarian fort left standing after Zero Year, and one of the few remnants of Dratarian architecture remaining across the continents. Like the city of Septen to the east, Fort Calbridge is its common name, and was once known as Vodo, the Dratarian word for Waterfall. The name was, while lacking a bit of imagination, incredibly accurate. The fort still stands to this day because of its strategic location at the very edge of a mountaintop river, above a plummet close to 7,000 feet directly down. It only has a single bridge spanning rather large body of water, and the waters are too tumultuous to risk a naval invasion. Thus, the only damage Fort Calbridge has taken since its creation is likely that of time, as the walls themselves were warded against damage from the weather and water. As a result, the garrison within the fort lives comfortably, knowing their home is nigh impenetrable.    It is here that Lord Holyward holds power, ruling the nearby village at the beginning of the bridge from his hall in the fort. He and his men share the fort with the Aristean Garrison under General Rhannor, a decorated veteran set in charge of repelling the raids sent by Agder during their rare times of unity under the High Karl. Though she has not yet battled her northern neighbors, she's likely to have to defend Tysha at some point before her retirement. As a result of House Holyward welcoming the Aristean army, they have become something of a social pariah amongst their fellow Véritians, finding most of their trade routes ended, and having to rely heavily on their nearest Rushalan neighbors in Rubinstead.
