Trigon the Gold

Trigon the Gold was a dragon knight who aided the cause of the Wardens during the Ferelden Civil War and posthumously became recognized as one of the Heroes of Ferelden.   He and the Arishok lost their lives in single combat against one another, after the Arishok had murdered Ferelden's then-king Calenhad Theirin and threatened to burn down the entire city of Denerim because he saw its society as a "disease".   Beyond his indisputably impactful time in Ferelden, only scant tales remain about his life. However, it's unlikely he'll be forgotten anytime soon. His legacy as a fabled warrior, some even claiming him capable of miracles, will linger on for decades — if not centuries — to come through a statue of him that was erected in Denerim following his death.

Families in the Anderfels are much too familiar with the concept of loss. Every year hundreds of names are written down on scraps of parchment. These names are of mere toddlers, babies, and infantiles that had barely taken their first breath, or put simply, children under the age of 3. These pieces of paper are collected by guards in military attire, and are checked for accuracy. Then, once all applicable names have been accounted for—and they will be accounted for—10 names are pulled every hour on the hour for a period of 24 hours. Once the 240th name has been called for, a warrant is put out for every single dragonkin called to draft. Whether it be by nonviolent or bloody 240 new recruits will be administered to the selfless, prestigious, admirable, and noble cause of the Divine Detachment. This is a military task force that is governed internally by generals, officers and captains; and work alongside but not for the government of the dragonborn. As soon as the recruits are taken, they start their new lives as the nation’s protectors. They are taught to serve orders, ask no questions and lead a life of selflessness.   The Oath of the Divine Detachment:   My brothers and sisters shall live in peace as my service has commenced, it will not cease until I am no longer, I shan't seek fame or glory, I will serve: for my nation demands it.   These are the words that every recruit will come to live by, either by memorization, simple acceptance, or by the breaking of their spirit. Captain Dematrigon was one of the former.   Dematrigon was one of the few recruits that never knew his family, he never had a mother or father, no all he ever knew was the familyhood found in the Detachment. But by and large he admired the Imptzar General: Danarhine Enginn. She was the head of the Divine Detachment, and in his eyes she may as well have been the coalescence of a mother figure and a living legend.   In time Dematrigon would prove himself to be a fine specimen within the Divine Detachment. Having never known anything else, it was easy for him to grow accustomed to this way of life, it was merely a fact in his mind. Eventually, a few weeks before his 24th year with the Detachment he was summoned to Central Monument, the place where the generals gather and lead. Here he was recognized as being given the rank of Captain. He was then tasked with gathering a small group (5 in total) and lead them to Southern Ferelden where some rumors had been spreading surrounding the Jrid. Dematrigon gladly accepted this monumental task, he knew he could not fail as it was an order directly from the generals.   Though he quickly found out that the Jrid were a much bigger threat than his people had previously lost. Immediately his squadron was ambushed by Jrid, and he was taken out but for some miracle his life was spared.   Dematrigon found himself in a situation where he needed to assist the Wardens, and stood by their side about a year. During the Arishok's attack on Denerim, Dematrigon confronted the Arishok for his crimes. The two brawled in the courtyard of King Calenhad's castle. The battle was close, and both took mortal wounds. Knowing that he needed to ensure the Arishok died, Dematrigon used his a magical sword to stop the madness that was happening around him, but it came at the expense of his own vitality. A moment later, the nobles who remained in the courtyard saw the Arishok cleave Dematrigon in two. It is without a doubt that his sacrifice was not in vain, for the Arishok only fell after the rest of the Wardens were able to arrive. He was cremated where he died, and his drake took the urn and flew with haste back to the Anderfels.
