Winterfest

Winterfest (or Winterfaire, used interchangeably to refer to the celebration of the holiday and the faire location) is a holiday dedicated to winter and the spirit of joy. While other faires and holidays focus on things of the past, Winterfest is all about being grateful for the present while giving and receiving gifts. The figurehead of the celebration is the immortal wizard of the north, a frost giant who's supposedly been alive for thousands of years. The wizard specializes in healing and creation, running a workshop he uses to make various toys and gifts for people who make the journey to come see him. He runs the Wonderous Land of the North, a stunning city bathed in a permanent snow. Loved by the guild and adventurers alike, he works alongside them to create an amazing celebration every year in a town called Winterfall.   Winterfall and the surrounding area is considered to be the main celebratory area for Winterfest, although much like The Day of the Dead and other celebrations the holiday is celebrated all over the universe.   The whole celebration is a time for new adventurers to take on quests and compete with one another in a friendly and safe manner, being as the area around Winterfall is considered to be fairly safe. A train (The Northern Express) runs from Winterfall to The Wonderous Land of the North, usually about a week before the night of Winterfest. During this time vital cargo is taken to the wizard's palace and it's something of a yearly tradition for hundreds of adventurers to accept a special quest to guard the train. Children of various ages will also ride the train to receive a gift from the northern wizard, and adventurers are gifted Festive Tokens for helping protect the train.   Unfortunately not all is well around the festival, hence why protection is necessary for the train and surrounding area. Outside of the local fauna, a strange witch who's relatively unknown constantly attempts to steal various magical tomes from the northern wizard. She's far too elusive for the guild to track down, so instead they help bolster the north's defenses during Winterfest.   Locations of Note:   Many of these locations features their own events and more are added every year while others are more touristy and just for the sights. There also are rumors of a strange mannequin that moves on it's own, and tale has it it likes to stalk inexperienced adventurers before killing them. Although not much is known about this entity, it seems to appear on multiple planets and at multiple times throughout the year. Winterfest is just one of the times most sightings are reported.   Another important entity of note is Krampus - a dark entity that feeds off the negative energy that sometimes appears during Winterfest. Krampus is supposedly just a legend, reports of huge goat-like hooves and a strange satyr standing ten feet tall have been sent in to the guild. As such the guild has declared it as an actual entity, although nobody has brought in proof of it's existence yet. Just old ghost stories from travels on the road.   Teardrop mechana help keep the peace by watching for criminals and elicit activity around Winterfall and the guards are still very careful around outsiders, but for the most part Winterfall's crime rate is exceptionally low and people tend to be happiest around Winterfest.
Winterfest is a time of appreciation and joy. Around this time of the year many companies, corporations and guild push their advertising and sell various products related to Winterfest. In particular clothing is incredibly popular around this time, as well as special brands of warm razel made by the locals. The Celestials have actually gone as far as to attend Winterfest, citing it as an important celebration for humanoids as a whole. The Wonderous Land of the North is an area of note heavily connected to Winterfest, and more information on it can be found in the link provided.
