Circle of Slumber

Circle Spells

Your sleep and dream related magic grants you access to certain spells.   At 2nd level, you gain access to the Sleep spell. At 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level you gain access to the spells listed for that level in the Circle of Slumber Spells table.   Once you gain access to one of these spells, you always have it prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn't appear on the druid spell list, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you.   Level Spells 3rd Phantasmal Force 5th Catnap 7th Phantasmal Killer 9th Dream

Sleep Walk

Beginning at 2nd Level, you learn to walk among the waking.   As an action, you can go into a sleep-like trance indefinitely. Being in this trance for 8 hours serves as a replacement for sleep or elvish trance.   While you are in this trance, you manifest a spirit form at your body's position. Your spirit form looks like a glowing, ghostly version of you, and sheds dim light in a 5 foot radius.   It has the following features:
  • Your spirit form has the same statistics as your body except it has hitpoints equal to twice your druid level and lacks any items except non-magical versions of your weapons and armor, which are part of your form.
  • Your spirit form cannot take damage.
  • Your spirit form is immune to the poisoned, exhausted, unconcious, and petrified conditions.
  • You can move up to 120 feet away from your body and may move through creatures or objects as if they were difficult terrain.
  • Your spirit form cannot take actions other than the Search, Hide, and Dash actions.
  • Your spirit form may communicate with other creatures through sound and gestures, but cannot touch anything.
While in your spirit form, you may expend a use of your Wild Shape as a bonus action. For a number of minutes equal to 5 times your druid level, your spirit form gains the following features:
  • Your spirit form can take damage. It has resistance to all damage except force, and immunity to poison damage.
  • Your spirit form gains the ability to take any action and manipulate objects.
  • Your spirit form gains a melee spell attack that deals 1d10 force damage.
  • Ending your turn in a hostile creature's space causes your spirit form to take force damage equal to half your druid level (rounded up), ignoring resistance.
If Dispel Magic is cast on either your spirit form or your body, you awaken, returning to your body.   If your spirit form or your body drops to 0 hitpoints, your spirit form ends.   While in this trance, your body is treated as unconscious as normal. However, to gain the benefits of a short or long rest, you can only engage in nonstrenuous activity, such as friendly conversation, reading or keeping watch.   You may instantly wake up as an Action, returning to your body.   The damage die on your melee spell attack increases to 2d10 at 5th level, 3d10 at 10th level, and 4d10 at 15th level.

Soporific Whisper

Beginning at 6th level, you learn to put people to sleep.   As an Action, you may spend a spell slot of 3rd level or higher. Choose one creature that you or your spirit form can touch. It must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the creature falls unconscious for 1 minute while you maintain concentration or until it takes damage or is slapped awake.   If you spend a spell slot of 4th level, the creature is unconscious for up to 10 minutes. With a 5th level spell slot it is unconscious for up to 1 hour. Using a spell slot higher than 5th level increases the duration by 1 hour for each level.   If you use a 6th level spell slot or higher it cannot be woken while you maintain concentration.

Improved Sleep Walk

Beginning at 10th level, you may enter Sleep Walk whenever you go unconscious. If this occurs because you have 0 hitpoints, you cannot expend a use of Wild Shape, but remain a ghostly observer.   Your spirit form may move up to 1 mile from your body.   Beginning at 18th level your spirit form may move up to any distance on the same plane as your body and you no longer need to eat or drink while trancing.

Dream Possession

Beginning at 14th level, you can use your spirit form to take over a sleeping body.   While you are in your spirit form, you may spend your action to touch an unconscious humanoid with 1 or more hitpoints. The creature must make a Wisdom saving throw. If you used Soporific Whisper on the creature with a 6th level spell slot or higher, the creature makes this check with disadvantage.   On a failure, your spirit form merges with the creature's body. For the next hour, you gain complete control of the creature's body, using its hitpoints, physical ability scores, and saving throws.   Each time the creature takes damage, the creature makes the saving throw again.   You regain use of this feature upon completion of a long rest.
