Saranmye

The Forgotten Island

When talking about elven islands, people generally consider the main ones, Trianmye and Quianmye, maybe even the western Tiananmye, or the volcanic Sekhanmye. Still, few consider this small island located to the southeast of the Anmyan archipelago. The island isn't known for its natural resources, or its particularly rich soil, which has led it to maintain a sparse population at best, and has largely been ignored by the rest of the Veskaren continent throughout history, until now.

Governance

This island has long been considered an Anmyan territory, even though it, and its inhabitants, have been largely neglected and left to their own devices.
However, this all changed when the new world was discovered, a whole new continent called Armir, and suddenly, this island's position became one of great importance.
As Enyanin endeavoured to explore and map these new lands and waters, they wanted to use this island as a starting point for thier expeditions, and since the Anmyan Kingdom was currently embroiled in a civil war, they didn't bother to ask permission. The Anmyans, in turn, were too busy to object.

Now, it is governed by an Enyanian Governor, ruling a modest port city on the far side of the Island. This city is growing rapidly, and is largely inhabited by Wood and Grass elves, loyal to the Enyanina crown.

Natives

The natives of Saranmye are ethnically and culturally related to the cliff elves of southern Trianmye, although their local dialect is very distinct and not mutually intelligible. The people here have arguably been removed from the mainland to a much greater extent than their cliff cousins, although recent events have changed this.

Their forests are wild and dense, although not as rainy as their Trianmyan counterparts' homeland, and there aren't so many cliffs here, so calling them cliff elves would be a serious misnomer. The coasts are rugged in places, but there are plenty of smooth beaches, and blue lagoons of tropical waters, home to all kinds of coral reefs and sealife, as well as the occasional merman, who sometimes come this way to hunt.

The interior of the island is rugged and mountainous, with a single large mountain in the middle, which is considered holy by the natives.

Flora and Fauna

The island isn't big enough for large predators, but there is a small type of feline called a bushcat that hunts especially birds and the small grazers that live here.

Most of the grazers here are large for their type, such as the Saranmyan Rabbit, which is much larger than any of its continental counterparts.
There is also a Saranmyan variety of bush pig, which is kept as livestock by the natives.

The continental immigrants who have moved here have largely brought their own livestock, introducing Enyanina pigs, goats, and chickens to the island.
They have also brought the mainland variety of Rat, which now thrives here like no other.
