Lizardfolk
Reptilian in appearance, Lizardfolk are semi-aquatic and stand around 6 to 7 feet in height. With a powerful build and weighing typically between 200 and 250 pounds, their skin is covered in scales which is thick and offers protection against attack. This could vary in colour, with greens being the most common, but ranging to greys, browns, blues, reds and a plethora of other more exotic colours. The differing skin-tones seem to be loosely tied to the climate of the Lizardfolk in question, with blues and cooler colours tied to the mountains and colder locations, and reds and oranges being seen around volcanic regions.
Lizardfolk also have non-prehensile, muscular tails that grow to 3 to 4 feet in length. Used primarily for balance, it also has made Lizardfolk exceptional swimmers. With sharp claws and teeth, they are also perfectly adapted to hunting in the forests, even without any additional tools or equipment.
The Male Lizardfolk have large crests that protrude from their heads - these are usually found towards the back of their heads and running down their spine, but variants coming from the sides of the head or below the chin are also found (or a combination of all of these). During the warmer seasons, these are brightly coloured, with them dimming to appear more like the Lizardfolk's normal scale colour in cooler months.
Female Lizardfolk are larger than males, often approaching heights of 9 to 10 feet. Their appearance is very familiar to males, with many non-reptilian humanoids struggling to distinguish between the two.
As an evolved, semi-civilised race, the Lizardfolk have their own beliefs of where they originate from. Despite this, very few seem to care about their races origins, with what happened so long ago being of little value to the present.
The Shamans of the Lizardfolk claim that when a great rot came to the Goldorisia Jungle, the Gods sought to protect the lands from the evil beings destroying everything. This is when the first Lizardfolk were created, as great warriors to ward of the enemies of the Gods. There is little evidence to support this, other than ancient carvings found in many Lizardfolk ziggurats. The more learned of the world have taken time to try to define the origins of the Lizardfolk, but have been thwarted by the religious zeal of the elder-Shamans and the reluctance of Lizardfolk to aid in any scientific methods.

Despite this, many smaller tribes of Lizardfolk have sailed far and wide. These Tribes, although often numbering no more than a handful of families, can be found all over the world of Varda, typically lurking in the swamps and jungles of the world.
