Dioronei Azure

Dioronei Azure (a.k.a. Dio, Water Spirit, Water Wizard)

"I find that sometimes I feel lost, but I never want to lose what I've found" -Dio

Physical Description

Physical quirks

Due to the ability to breath air and water, Dio can get drunk stupid fast. One example was during his first few hours on land in the port town of Havins, he ordered a drink at an inn not considering he'd receive a watered down ale. Needless to say, it was like breathing in pure alcohol to Dio and he quickly found himself slumped against a bar stool fighting gravity. When he came to hours later, the floor was being mopped up by the barkeep with the citation that his cloak spilled everywhere and he'd need to pay for damages. It was the first and last incident as a drunkard and a dishwasher.
Dio's pearlescent eyes are often avoided as they don't have the normal focal point most do. They lack a discernible edge to the iris which causes confusion in some.

Special abilities

Dio has been known to cast spells in layered or often bizarre ways thanks to a lack of magic guidance as a youth. These include:
  • Embodying Phixu's sight and senses as well as being able to cast Touch based spells through them.
  • His Aquarius Cloak via Shape Water.

Travels with the Party

Upon making it to the nearest road, Dioronei happened upon a travelling party made up of Kurik, Milo, and Sair and decided to pursue. Following at a distance, they came across a town in the midst of celebrating the god Thor. A helpful tiefling draper named Amber directed the party to the center of the town where the party took refuge in an inn while Dio slept under the overhang outside. By morning, the group had ventured to a field where displays of strength we being made with simple weaponry. Amidst this, a group of wolves ran through the livestock pens and attacked the party. Barely driving them off, the group walked away with their lives and Kurik helped carry a critically injured Sair towards the village.
Upon reaching the edge of town, Amber directed them to a church where the injured were being tended to by Cleric Flynn. Taking a rest, the group learned of each other and of a glowing hammer in the center of town that drew suspicion. Following the words of the blacksmith after entrusting him with the hammer, the group wandered southward to the tower reaching into the sky. They had been warned about the defenses of the tower, but were surprised when the resident mage opened the door for them. After inviting them in, they informed the elderly man about the disturbances in town to which he granted them potions and wands not before sending Sair off in a huff to his suspicious accusations. Upon exiting the tower, they sought the inn and regrouped with the intent of helping a possible ally; a man in wolf furs hoping to reveal the fate of a poor merchant to the North.
Taking the route closest to the merchant's cart, the group tracked down a band of goblins taking a sheep deeper into the woods. A short fight that left three goblins asleep and one poised on running ended with a swift interrogation with Sair translating and Milo providing intimidation with a swift beheading. The group caught a glimpse of a goblin camp who were preparing for some unknown ritual. Returning to town to regroup, they found the town yet again in the midst of an attack, this time by spiders in a nearby orchard.

Employment

The closest to employment Dioronei has experienced is traveling with the party. Before then, parlor tricks and small chores kept him moderately fed and assisted in his march inland.

Character Prototype
  • The hair was directly inspired by the series Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) while the remainder of the character was made from scratch.
  • The idea behind the water cloak was inspired by pictures of swimmers surfacing from pools. The way the light bends around the person is uniquely beautiful.
  • The trunks, while not originally added at first, was done for modesty despite Shape Water being able to obscure the regions needed.
