Zietyanisss (Zy-yet-yawn-iss)
In the ancient annals of the world, where time itself seems to bend and weave like the currents of the sea, there existed a mountain veiled in mystery and solitude. Its towering peaks kissed the heavens, and its depths cradled secrets that whispered of eons long past. For countless centuries, this mountain stood as a silent sentinel, guarding a hidden chamber that housed a prison forged by the hands of gods.
Once, in the primordial mists of time, when the realms of gods and mortals mingled more freely, a great conflict rent the fabric of existence. Amidst this chaos, the gods crafted a prison of unparalleled strength and sealed within it a malevolent force that threatened to devour the very essence of creation. This prison lay buried deep within the heart of the mountain, its secrets hidden from all but the most vigilant eyes.
Yet, as the ages waxed and waned, whispers of the prison's existence echoed through the halls of eternity. It is said that a cataclysmic event rent the mountain asunder, sundering the prison's bonds and unleashing a torrent of darkness upon the world. In response, the gods dispatched a shard of pure crystal, imbued with their divine essence, to contain the breach. This shard, a beacon of hope amidst the encroaching shadows, came to rest in the tranquil waters of a lake that formed within the crater left by its impact.
Years passed, and though the breach was contained, the lingering tendrils of evil continued to ensnare the hearts of mortals. Drawn by whispers of power and promises of untold riches, adventurers and seekers flocked to the mountain's slopes, their greed blinding them to the dangers that lay in wait.
It was during this time of turmoil that Zietyaniss, a water naga of ancient lineage, found herself ensnared in a web of treachery and betrayal. Having recently birthed a clutch of hatchlings, she was vulnerable and unaware of the dangers that lurked in the shadows. Sensing her weakness, a band of Kuo-Toa, led by a malevolent Sea Hag, descended upon her lair with cruel intent.
Overwhelmed and outnumbered, Zietyaniss fought valiantly to protect her offspring, but the Kuo-Toa's numbers were too great to not only protect herself, but her children. In a desperate bid to save her hatchlings, she allowed herself to be bound by the dark magics of the Sea Hag, hoping that her sacrifice would buy them precious time.
Days turned into weeks, and Zietyaniss languished in captivity, her heart heavy with grief and remorse. The Kuo-Toa, reveling in their victory, taunted her mercilessly, their laughter echoing through the caverns like the tolling of a death knell. And then, in a final act of cruelty, they brought forth the severed heads of her hatchlings, their lifeless eyes staring accusingly into the abyss.
It was a blow from which Zietyaniss would never truly recover. Haunted by the memory of her lost offspring, she resigned herself to an existence of solitude and despair, her once-majestic form now shackled by the chains of her own sorrow.
And so, for untold centuries, Zietyaniss remained imprisoned within the mountain's depths, her spirit broken but her will undaunted. Though the world outside may have forgotten her, she endured, a silent guardian bound by duty and sacrifice to a fate that was not of her own making.
But even in the darkest depths of despair, there glimmers a faint spark of hope. For deep within the recesses of her heart, Zietyaniss knows that someday, somehow, she will break free from her chains and rise once more to reclaim her destiny. Until then, she waits, her eyes fixed upon the distant horizon, where the waters of fate ebb and flow like the tides of eternity

Mental Trauma
Zietyaniss's hatred for Kuo-Toa stems from a deeply personal and tragic experience that left an indelible mark on her psyche. The Kuo-Toa, under the sway of a malevolent Sea Hag, not only captured Zietyaniss but also perpetrated a heinous act that struck at the core of her being - the slaughter of her own hatchlings.
For Zietyaniss, the bond between a parent and their offspring runs deep, ingrained in the very fabric of her existence. The loss of her hatchlings at the hands of the Kuo-Toa was not just a physical trauma but a soul-wrenching agony that pierced her to the core. The callousness and cruelty with which they ended the lives of her young left an enduring scar on her heart, fueling a burning hatred that knows no bounds.
Furthermore, Zietyaniss sees the Kuo-Toa as instruments of chaos and destruction, willingly serving dark forces for their own selfish gains. Their allegiance to the Sea Hag, a being of malevolence and malice, only serves to deepen her loathing for them. To Zietyaniss, the Kuo-Toa represent everything that is vile and abhorrent in the world - a twisted reflection of the darkness that seeks to consume all in its path. She will hunt down and destroy any Kuo-Toa she finds, regardless of all else. They will be priority targets in all combat and no moral constraints will be used.
