Among those fleeing the carnage were Ritter's own family, seeking refuge within the hallowed walls of the temple, their faces pale with fear and desperation.   Filled with righteous indignation, Ritter rushed to the aid of his loved ones, determined to protect them at any cost. In disbelief and horror, Ritter watched helplessly as his family was turned away, their pleas for sanctuary falling on deaf ears.
