Campaign Rules and Expectations

Session time/day
At the time of this writing (11/01/2022) Saturday evening is the agreed upon time for sessions. This is open to change on discussion, if people want a different day.
GM will aim to be online at 5pm and start play at 5.30, aiming for 8.30-9.30 finish time.
If anything changes the GM will attempt to nitify everyone asap to arrange a new time, or postpone.

  Player Attenndance/West Marches/ Open World
The format we intend to play is that we are in a living open world, rather than a pre'written storyline. We are also based in a large major city with 3 million residents and all the activities that are present there. This means that if a player is not present for a session, the rest should have no problem playing on with an adventure, quest or mission that doen't involve the missing player. With that said, if you know you can't play please let the GM know as soon as you can so the planning can be easier.
On the same note, there is no reason that everyone can't make their own stories or adventures if they want, whether they are one'shots or longer stories, and run them as GM in this world. All the tools are there and it could be a fun thing for everyone. This style is commonly known as a West Marches game, where multiple storylines are happening in the same world run by different GM's who might also play as players in the other stories.

    Game/Play Style
The style of play we are looking for is a Pulp Novel/Indiana Jones style.
In keeping with the West Marches and Indiana Jones crossover, most adventres will be a single session long, so whoever is there can run the whole mission and not miss out on the fun, the story, or the xp.

  Violence
Obviously violence is part of this game and part of this world, but we should all agree on the boundaries. As of this writing (11/01/2022) the violence looks like this.
Fights/shootouts/etc with other gamgs and police is highly expected and probably the meat and potatoes (calzone?) of the game. With that said, we are in New York City, and violence in the Main Street is a lot different to violence in the back alleys and docks and warehouses, and the police will have a much stricter view of it.
Violence against innocent bystanders (e.g. a shopkeeper getting hit up for protection) will probably happen, but is expected to be in the Indiana Jones style (e.g. a few slaps around the head).
Violence against women, children or helpless victims is not expected to be part of the game. The exception might be something like a gangster slapping a broad across the face in a speakeasy, although, as per Indiana Jones rules, that guy just firmly put himself into 'Bad Guy' territory and is fair game for anyone to take down.
Sexual violence of any kind won't be a part of this game.

  Rule Rulings
If there is a rule that isn't known at the time, is argued about, interpreted differently by different people, etc: the GM will decide on the spot how to use the rule/pull something out of their butt to make the scene work and move on.
Before the next session, the people involved in the confusion/arguments should find the correct info and bring it to the others in Discord or whatever.
The rule probably won't be retro fitted to the previous session, but might be if you can convince the GM or if it makes sense.

Knowing your character and the rules that apply to them.
Just as the game runs smoother and funner when the GM knows all the rules, it also runs better when the players know all their characters stats and abilities, and how to use them, and critically, when to use them.
The better you can know your character, the better you can use them to good effect in the game, and the better the game runs and the more fun everyone has.
Please, I'm beggin' ya, do me a solid here and I swear I'll make it up to ya next week!

    Making New Characters, Switching Characters
On that note, in a city of 3 million people, there's sure to be a bunch of characters. If yours is a bit stale, or a new idea hits, why not pitch it to the group and see if it sticks.
Provided that it doesn't ruin anyone else fun, it should be totally doable.

  Worldbuilding
If you think of something that will add to the world, (an event, location, game, organisation, whatever) feel free to write something up and we'll get it in the system so we can use it.
The more stuff is in here the more stuff we can do!   Suggestions/Input/Feedback
We havent got an official place for this stuff yet, but feel free to throw in anything you like, preferably out of game time.
We're all learning, and we're all here to have the most fun we can, so let everyone know what you thinks working or not.
