Social Hierarchy of Townsfolk
Background
The Townsfolk see themselves as fundamentally civilised. They are the relatives of pioneers who fought against the chaos of nature to create a safe place for them and their children. They see themselves as continuing that fight against heathens by ensuring they are educated and proper in everything they do.
Part of that feeling of civilisation comes from the strict social hierarchy which is in place and ensures that everyone reports to someone, and keeps everyone striving for more.
For example, while the Men of Authority sit below everyone in the Clerics section, it is likely that many of them would only look up to people at Town Cleric level or higher. However, Other Men are at best on the same level as the Trainee Clerics.
Likewise, within the Women, there is a separate unspoken hierarchy based on their proximity to the powerful men in their lives. So the wife of an Elder Cleric would be more important than the daughter of a Town Cleric, and so on.
Great overview of the hierarchy. Just being an Other Man must be very infuriating for those men, but I don't feel sorry for them.

Yeah, there are still a lot of people lower than them, but it's definitely a frustration.
