The Changeling Myth
A long time ago, creatures from the Wildes would place Wilder children with those parents whose child had become a Changeling in an attempt to ease the pain of losing a child. Most of these children grew up, had families and children of their own, and when their time to die came, they returned to the Wildes. The rare cases that were discovered to be not human were thought to be the basis of the changeling myth in the human world, which began to be used as an excuse to get rid of human children who had physical deformities.
