Kamashanti of the Jinn
Mother of Tall Trees House Kamashanti (a.k.a. Kama)
Among the Jinn, females live with numerous restrictions, but many freedoms as well. The highest positions of government are usually held by women, including that of representing the entire species among the Consortium of Intelligent Species. This position is held by Kamashanti, matriarch of a wealthy Abi-Jinn family on the Northern Continent. Her assets come from technology, as her House is one of the highest ranking among the Ten Thousand Houses and a prominent part of the project to oversee the development of the human race on Earth. Pyushu is a member of her House.
Kamashanti is the Mother of Tall Trees House, headquartered in the mountainous capital city of Senuare. She lives in a large house with flowing lines and layers of balconies overlooking a manicured back yard full of tall, ancient trees.

Personal history
Kamashanti was the first female born to the previous Mother of Tall Trees House. All 76 of her siblings were male, and her birth came late in her mother's life. Kamashanti, which means "long awaited", was only twenty years old when her mother passed and took up the mantle of House Matriarch while still a child.
She is mother to seven sons and two daughters, and has fifteen grandchildren.

Education
She excelled in school, particularly in engineering. Upon her graduation at age forty, she began training to understand Auk'kheem technology, but a natural talent for diplomacy and negotiation brought her into politics. By the age of 56, she was nominated to serve as Jinn representative to the Consortium of Intelligent Species-- the youngest ever to represent their people in this weighty position.
Accomplishments & Achievements
The loss of her mother at an early age thrust a great deal of responsibility upon Kamashanti. In spite of this tragedy, the young Jinn woman went on to learn the intricacies of managing interpersonal conflict while training to oversee the building of a portal ship to be sent to Earth. Her abilities were recognized within and outside her house, prompting others to utilize her skills as a mediator. At the age of 56, she was nominated for the diplomatic post representing all Jinn at the Consortium of Intelligent species, and carried out that role successfully for more than thirty years. Through her efforts, relations with the Singers, Tirmas and Yun'dzai were restored and began to flourish.
Failures & Embarrassments
After the deaths of her first five husbands, Kamashanti remained unmarried in order to concentrate on her role as diplomat to the Birthplace of Light and Shadow. This is considered shocking for Jinn females, as their primary duty regardless of career is to procreate. Given the pressures and intimate nature of her role as representative of the Jinn, an exception was made for her to remain single and forego additional reproduction until she stepped down from the position.
After working directly with humans for several years, Kamashanti became pregnant and delivered twin daughters who were determined to be half human. This was the first instance in which humans and Jinn were able to conceive, and while the event was remarkable and created hope for the Jinn species, it was also a tremendous embarrassment because Kamashanti had mated with two human males, individually, in secret.

Mental Trauma
Falling in love with one man is considered a curse for Jinn females. Even as children, girls are taught to embrace the concept of loving multiple partners, so when Kamashanti was marrying age, she tried to care for all five of her husbands equally. One man, however, captured her heart, and she was forced to divide her attention equally between him and the other four men. This caused a great deal of friction in the family, but she learned quickly to diffuse angry tempers, but at a deep cost to herself. When her beloved husband Ammet died only ten years into the marriage, she was devastated.
