Angela Opondo
Born in Kenya, Angela's family moved to London when she was eight years old, where she took up fencing in school. Two years later, the family emigrated to the United States. By her early teens, her skill at fencing had been noted and earned her a private coaching engagement sponsored by the dei Angeles Enclave. Angela eventually went on to take the silver medal in the 1996 Olympics held in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of twenty.
Following this stellar achievement, Angela went to work for the Enclave as an administrator. Three years later, she chose to participate in the surrogacy program and gave birth to Persephone. She cared for the child during her first two years. Angela agreed to carry the second iteration of Dr. Rand Engel's masterwork, later called Gabriel. After Gabriel was born, she became his permanent caregiver throughout his childhood, and his handler as he attained maturity. All of his work assignments came through her. She managed his daily routine, determined when he ate, rested, exercised and slept in order to prevent him from exhaustion. Her special nickname for him, adopted from J. M. Barrie's "Peter Pan", is "Boy."
Angela is a kind, gentle person with a regal air. She is a supremely patient person, applying just the right amount of discipline tempered with kindness in her treatment of her beloved charge.
Though she is not related to Gabriel by blood and must maintain a professional demeanor with him, she is devoted to his welfare and loves him as if he were her own child.

As a former Olympic athlete, Angela engages in a rigorous fitness program that keeps her at peak fitness. She is slender and gracefully built.

Due to her slimness, she appears to have long limbs and a long, graceful neck.
Facial Features
Graced with a high, rounded forehead and square jaw, Angela's face is at once serenely beautiful and strong. Her aquiline nose is set above a full, elegantly shaped mouth. Her dark eyes are round and inquisitive, shadowed with delicately arched brows.

Her posture is nothing short of magnificent. She never slumps, always carrying herself with the grace of a queen.
Physical quirks
She talks with her hands. They flutter about her like butterflies, and it is only when she is concentrating -- like for a business meeting -- that she keeps them still. She is quite tactile, often touching Gabriel's hair or shoulder when guiding him. These affectionate gestures have been noted by Dr. Engel and she has been warned numerous times to be less personal in her approach to his supervision.

She has a smart fashion sense and tends toward sharp business suits with minimal jewelry when on the job. Off duty, she prefers worn jeans and high-end casual blouses.

She attended the University of Texas at Austin, but transferred to Clark Atlanta to finish out her senior year in order to participate in the 1996 Olympic Games. She earned her degree in Business Administration that same year.

Accomplishments & Achievements
Her silver medal in women's fencing has been her most noteworthy achievement; however, she believes this pales in comparison to being Gabriel's caregiver and handler.
Failures & Embarrassments
As Gabriel reached adulthood, she began to lose control over him at times. He challenged her regularly for more working time, and only through his determination to keep her as his handler were they able to maintain their relationship. Dr. Engel regularly threatened Gabriel with the removal of Angela from his life if he refused to cooperate, but that threat had little actual weight in his decisions. He knew he could keep Angela by his side because her presence in his life was the key to his work. If Engel withdrew her, Gabriel would stop working completely.
Mental Trauma
Angela's early childhood was marked with terror and conflict, as the area where she lived in northeastern Kenya was near the Wagalla area where a body of Kenyan soldiers executed a large number of Somali soldiers. This unrest prompted her family to leave the country, seeking amnesty in England.
Morality & Philosophy
Angela believes kindness can achieve anything. She is unfailingly polite to everyone and does her best to avoid being judgmental of others, treating all equally and graciously.

Family Ties
Angela has no living family. The closest she comes to that now is Persephone and Gabriel. Though not genetically related, they are the children of her heart.

Angela's voice is mellifluous, soft and deep, yet feminine and musical. Her Kenyan roots are obvious in her accent, which is also flavored with more British pronunciations than American. She never swears and always has a kind word for everyone (except Kairos).
