The Eternal Pillars

In the vast tapestry of The Wheel, there exist cosmic constants known as the Eternal Pillars. These are the remnants of gods from the previous Karanth, whose remains were used to create anchors for reality as the current Dream took shape. The Eternal Pillars serve as the foundation of existence, maintaining the laws of nature and magic across the multiverse.  

Known Eternal Pillars

 

1. The Fateforge

Located at the heart of Sort'una, Autumna's bronze moon, the Fateforge is an Eternal Pillar that governs destiny and heroic potential. It's believed to have the power to alter reality and the nature of beings.  

2. The Chronomaelstrom

A swirling vortex of temporal energy located in the Astral Sea, the Chronomaelstrom regulates the flow of time throughout The Wheel. It's said that those who reach its center can glimpse both past and future Karanths.  

3. The Resonance Spire

A towering crystalline structure that pierces through multiple planes of existence, the Resonance Spire maintains the boundaries between different realities. It's believed to be the source of all planar travel magic.  

4. The Wellspring of Elements

Hidden deep within the planet Autumna, the Wellspring of Elements is the source of all elemental forces in The Wheel. It's said that the four elemental planes converge at this point.  

5. The Void Anchor

A massive black obelisk floating in the depths of space, the Void Anchor prevents the encroachment of nothingness into the realms of existence. It's theorized to be the last remnant of the god who held back oblivion in the previous Karanth.  

Properties of the Eternal Pillars

  Indestructibility: The Eternal Pillars cannot be destroyed by any known means. They are as fundamental to reality as the laws of physics.
Reality Warping: The areas surrounding the Eternal Pillars often experience strange phenomena related to their aspect of reality.
Power Source: Many powerful magical artifacts and spells draw their energy from the Eternal Pillars, often unknowingly.
Divine Resistance: The Eternal Pillars are immune to the direct influence of gods and other divine beings, including IAE and Canker.
Cosmic Balance: The Eternal Pillars work in harmony to maintain the stability of The Wheel. If one were to be significantly altered or removed, it could have catastrophic consequences for all of existence.  

Significance in the Current Age

  As IAE's condition worsens and reality begins to fray, the Eternal Pillars have become increasingly important. They serve as stabilizing forces against the encroaching chaos, and many believe that understanding and harnessing their power may be key to saving The Wheel from Canker's corruption.   Various factions, including the Qhuss, seek to manipulate or control the Eternal Pillars for their own ends. Meanwhile, some scholars and heroes believe that the Pillars may hold the secret to curing IAE or creating a new, stable reality if the current Karanth cannot be saved.   The Eternal Pillars represent both hope and danger in the twilight days of The Wheel, their ancient power a double-edged sword that could either save or doom all of existence.
