Abstract:

This study elucidates the correlation between autism and the utilization of arcane magic in the Ochal Confederacy, with an emphasis on the extraordinary abilities that are often exhibited by autistic individuals. The statistical association is striking, with approximately 60% of arcane magic users identified as autistic, significantly surpassing the general prevalence of 2%. The study aims to explore this relationship and its implications, and to speculate upon the possible causes for these emergent capacities in autistic magic users.  

Introduction:

The Ochal Confederacy is characterized by its pervasive use of arcane magic, a force that pervades all societal strata. Arcane magic, recognized for its mutable nature and reliance on a user's intent and emotional comprehension, requires unique cognitive abilities that are often found in individuals with autism.   Autism, a neurodiversity characterized by variations in social communication and repetitive behaviors or interests, is seen not as a disability but as a different cognitive spectrum within the Confederacy. This perspective posits a paradigm wherein the cognitive variances presented by autism can lead to an enhanced understanding and manipulation of arcane magic.  

Observations of Emergent Abilities in Autistic Magic Users:

In our studies, autistic arcane magic users have demonstrated capabilities that surpass their neurotypical counterparts. These abilities include:  

1. Time Manipulation: Some autistic magic users have shown an extraordinary ability to manipulate the flow of time. These individuals can either slow down or speed up their personal perception of time, allowing them to react to events with enhanced precision.
2. Sensory Enhancement: Autism is often associated with heightened sensory perception. When combined with arcane magic, these abilities can be amplified, enabling users to sense changes in magical energy fields and perceive minute shifts in their environment that would be imperceptible to others.
