Ursaquad

Monsterous and aggressive four-armed beasts who live in thick forests. Ursaquads are highly aggressive and territorial, often attacking on sight, especially during mating season (summer) or when caring for their young. A common saying warns that spotting an Ursaquad first is your only chance of escape. They nest atop or beneath ancient trees, which provide shelter and support for their young.

Ursaquads’ migration patterns likely stem from an ancient tactic by Yorn tribes to divert them from settlements. The tribes would harvest sap from Twisted Willows, a favorite treat for Ursaquads, and leave a trail to lure them away. Originally from northern Yorn’s Clay region, these creatures navigate swampy terrain with ease due to their wolverine-gorilla-sloth-like build, reaching up to 12 feet in adulthood. Over the last century, they’ve begun migrating south past Eren’s borders in summer to escape the humid swamps, finding more favorable conditions with less competition.

Young Ursaquads, called Teddyquads, spend their first five years developing aggression through curiosity and fearless play. These 1-foot-tall creatures attempt to wrestle anything larger than themselves, including travelers. If a Teddyquad latches onto someone, there’s limited time to remove it before the parent returns, often resulting in fatal encounters.
