The Vandalizing of Moonlight Tower

The Unexplained Ruin of the Moonlight Tower, an event steeped in mystery and controversy, remains one of the most puzzling chapters in the history of Marilune. At an indeterminate point in time, the revered tower dedicated to Mene was severely damaged in a manner that defied natural explanation. No witnesses ever came forward, and no records of the event were documented as it occurred, leaving both scholars and worshipers to grapple with the enigmatic aftermath.

When the damage was discovered, it was catastrophic yet strangely precise. Sizeable chunks of the Moonstone material had been shattered, scattered across the premises, and the upper half of the tower leaned unnaturally at a five-degree angle, defying the material's famed resilience. Many of the sacred braziers, intricate fixtures, and cherished sculptures adorning the structure were either destroyed or mysteriously missing. The devastation left the faithful in shock and the tower in a state of disrepair, its solemn grandeur forever altered.

The event triggered widespread speculation and accusations, splintering the Lunari community as they searched for an explanation. Fingers pointed in many directions:

- Eiri Iconoclasts from the Ice Region: Known for their disdain for "false idols," the Eiri were accused of orchestrating an attack on the Moonlight Tower. However, attempts to link Eiri visitors present in Marilune at the time to the act were based on tenuous and inconclusive evidence.

- The Beastfolk of Khiravi: With their limited trade relations and vocal disapproval of deities outside their own pantheon, the Khiravi were another target of blame. Yet, no concrete connections were ever established.

- Notorious Fleets from the Far West: Some argued the destruction was a calculated display of power by seafaring forces infamous for their hostility, though no fleet ever claimed responsibility, and their motives for targeting a religious structure remained unclear.

- Seafolk Rioters: In an era marked by growing tensions between land-dwellers and the Seafolk, some suggested that rioters from the seas took drastic measures to make a statement. This theory also lacked substantiation and failed to explain the nature of the damage.

Despite the myriad of theories, the true cause of the Moonlight Tower's ruin has never been discovered.
